Commission Approves Additional EHR ProductsAugust 02, 2006
The Certification Commission for Healthcare IT has certified two additional electronic health record software products that met the commission's criteria for functionality, interoperability and information security, Government Health IT reports.iMedica's iMedica Patient Relationship Manager 2005 Version 5.1 and INFOR-MED's Praxis Electronic Medical Records Version 3.4 received certification. CCHIT also announced that it has certified two products that previously were conditionally certified: Community Computer Service's MEDENT 16 and LSS Data Systems' Medical and Practice Management Suite, Client Server Version 5.5. The commission this month certified a total of 22 ambulatory EHR products during the first round of certifications, according to CCHIT spokesperson Sue Reber. CCHIT is accepting vendor applications for the second round of ambulatory product certification until Aug. 14 and certified products will be announced in October, Reber said.CCHIT has posted on its Web site proposed criteria for 2007 certifications, which include inpatient or hospital EHRs, and is accepting comments on the criteria until Aug. 25 and is seeking candidates to act as commissioners for two-year terms (Ferris, Government Health IT, 7/31).
